CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE The purpose of the Audit Specialist is to ensure the accuracy of child support accounts. JOB DUTIES Analyzes financial activities on child support cases and appropriately identifies errors. Performs financial corrections, releases payments, and performs hierarchy overrides as necessary. Maintains records of corrections and documents all activity in SETS. Research unidentified payments and releases those payments to the appropriate case. Establishes recoupment accounts as necessary. [40%] Maintains and works various financial child support reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure child support accounts are accurate. Assists public assistance clients with information related to assigned child support balances. [30%] Performs straight audits and distribution audits of child support accounts. Prepares audit summaries for county conferences and state hearings and represents the agency in the State Hearings. [20%] Works cooperatively with the Payment Analysis and Account Reconciliation Bureau (PAAR) regarding financial corrections, special projects, recoupment accounts, Medicaid refunds etc. [10%] These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these or other job-related duties as assigned. MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, public relations, and human relations. Skills in typing, word processing, keypunch, and equipment operation. Ability to carry out simple instructions, carry out detailed, but basic written or oral instructions, understand system of bookkeeping, deal with many variables and determine specific action, count, do basic addition, and subtraction, read and record figures accurately, add, subtract, multiple, and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, maintain accurate records, understand manuals and verbal instructions technical in nature, prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports, cooperate with co-workers on group projects, and answer routine telephone inquiries from the public. MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT High School Diploma or GED plus come college. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS No other requirements are necessary.
