Role Overview: Bose Professional is seeking an exceptionally skilled Audio Hardware Architect to join our engineering team as we continue to expand our global organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact both our near-term product roadmap as well as our next-generation technologies and products. The Hardware Architect will work closely with our product team and our electrical, mechanical, acoustical, and software engineers to design, prototype, test, and optimize world-class audio products for the installed sound and live sound markets. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with a wide array of internal stakeholders to identify and analyze market opportunities, understand customer pain points, and realize creative solutions. • Accelerate our innovation process for next-generation products, leverage our extensive in-house experience/knowledge base and IP, conduct research and explore emerging technology trends, and be a catalyst for innovation and new IP generation. • Mentor, coach, and guide our engineering team on best practices across design, analysis, optimization, debugging and problem solving. • Create technical proposals outlining potential solutions and approaches that are aligned with our strategic product vision and business goals. Effectively communicate proposals and designs to both engineering colleagues and senior executives. • Produce architecture diagrams and detailed schematics and related documentation. • As a hands-on engineering practitioner, create rapid prototypes by leveraging our cross-functional engineering teams, outside engineering support services and specialized consultants. • Stay close to the technical details, diving deep with each engineering team and all parts of the HW/SW system to unblock teams and identify root causes behind tough problems. • Be a champion for innovation and creativity, while staying focused on practical solutions that meet cost, schedule, and quality targets. Qualifications – Must Have: • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or similar • 15 years of experience designing, building, and delivering complex HW/SW systems • Deep knowledge of real-time audio systems spanning acoustics, mechanical, electrical, digital signal processing algorithms, and embedded systems • Extensive experience designing and implementing high-power electrical systems for audio amplifiers (especially Class-D amplifiers) and power transmission systems • Experience utilizing FPGAs for high-speed digital audio applications • Expertise using electrical design and simulation tools for schematics and PCBA creation • Proficiency with electrical and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and audio analyzers • Solid understanding of loudspeaker/transducer design and optimization techniques Qualifications – Nice to Have: • Experience with thermal design, testing, and optimization techniques • Software development experience, especially with embedded processors using C/C++ • Experience using and interpreting results from acoustic simulation & design software tools such as MATLAB or Comsol • Knowledge of environmental and safety/regulatory standards and testing practices for audio systems and loudspeakers • Experience developing QA test procedures and test rigs Location: US, ideally East Coast with preference for Framingham, MA area, which operates on a hybrid model working 3-days a week onsite.
