Position Summary The Assistant Professor of Business Administration, Department Head, will provide the oversight, leadership, coordination, and evaluation of the School of Business, in accordance with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), university policies, strategic plan, rules, and regulations, as well as the standard criteria set forth by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).The Department Head will oversee the management of the small business development center (SBDC), along with academics in the department - including curriculum, course offerings, advising, and classroom infrastructure and guide programmatic change.Department Head will receive an additional $8,000.00 per year, on top of the annual salary. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Manage the department budget, and work to expand the budget to assist in department programmatic re-design etc. Establish and maintain a balance between the service provided to students, colleagues, and the individual rights of department faculty and staff. Manage faculty and staff in the School of Business. Works with the small business development staff and leadership. Work to better the departmental working environment, expand resources for personal development and manage conflicts. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledgeable of ACBSP standards and criteria required for progress reports and accreditation reaffirmation. Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to lead the faculty and staff in the daily activities of the School of Business. Ability to communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to envision growth, and invest in faculty, staff, department, and university as a whole. Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications Include: Earned doctorate, Ph.D. or its equivalent in training, ability, and experience. A record of leadership experience within the profession or the university. Evidence of successful teaching in higher education. Excellent communication and human relations skills. Experience in administration of programs in higher education including strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and collaboration with colleagues.
