Associate Youth Minister Job Description The Associate Youth Ministers primary role is to assist the Lead Youth Pastor in daily tasks related to youth ministry. This includes but is not limited to Wednesday night and Sunday services, connecting with students and families, communicating with volunteers, and attending community events. Qualifications A committed Christian called by God with a high level of spiritual maturity. High school degreed with experience leading kids/students in a ministry environment. Strong leadership and relational skills along with a passion to reach the next generation with the gospel and to train believers. Knowledge, skills, and wisdom in assisting parents with discipling their own kids. Administrative and organizational skills along with the ability to recruit, train, and encourage students, parents, and volunteer leaders. Good communication of Biblical truth in a relevant, practical, and engaging way to kids, students, parents, and leaders. Solid team-player while also leading teams. Expectations Continue in growing a personal relationship with Jesus as evidenced by actions. Committed to the vision and mission of Mt Vernon Church Use of good time-management skills Consistently learn and adapt (ex, technology, youth culture, etc.) Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and students and work through any conflict that may arise with students, parents, volunteers, church staff or congregation. Responsibilities Weekly Events Preach and lead during the Midweek middle school service. Help prepare meeting spaces for Wednesday night and Sunday morning. Turn on/off lights and equipment, unlock/lock doors, set-up/ tear-down games, and activities. Lead middle school and high school small groups as needed. Volunteer Relationships Schedule volunteers Train and recruit volunteers Ensure volunteers have the curriculum and materials needed Discipleship Connect with students, volunteers, and parents via phone calls, community events, and in-person meetings. Walk through spiritual journeys with students (Baptisms, spiritual questions, general discipleship) Visit student in community setting including school visits, sporting events, recitals, and any other student activities Big Events Assist Lead Youth Pastor with planning, organizing, and executing big events such as Joy Prom, DNow, Night of Worship, summer camps, 5th quarters, Messy Games, etc.
