The Associate Therapist serves the residents/guests and students of SDRM and acts as a resource for the Mission. This position provides clinically sound therapy, leadership, training, and partners with Mission Academy Students toward achieving greater emotional and spiritual wholeness as part of successful program completion. The Associate Therapist utilizes appropriate clinical therapeutic modalities for Mission Academy students through individual and group therapy, class instruction and training. This position reports directly to the Program Clinical Administrator. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Key Responsibilities: To utilize appropriate clinical therapeutic modalities for Mission Academy students through individual and group therapy, class instruction and training. Provides screening, clinical assessments, case management and mental health treatment for residents of the program. Provide standard of client care to assigned caseload. Serves as a team lead to therapy team. Assists program residents in developing and documenting client service plans, goals, prioritizing areas of need and steps needed to reach goals established Provides crisis intervention/triage and safety planning as appropriate. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of trauma informed and cultural sensitivity practices. Facilitate/Co-facilitate process and skill building classes/groups. Assist the Clinical Administrator in maintaining and updating group therapy curriculum materials and lead group supervision, as needed and available. Conducts initial assessment interviews and obtains information concerning medical/psychiatric history, and other pertinent information. Developing treatment plans and administering therapeutic treatment to assist program residents in managing disorders and other problems through a trauma informed lens. Consults with Clinical Administrator and other team members of the supportive team concerning treatment plan and amends plan as agreed upon and appropriate. Discuss/document progress toward goals with Student such as stress, substance abuse and/or emotional issues with Clinical Administrator and with other team members as clinically appropriate. Provides training for staff on various clinical issues as needed and available. Attend mandatory staff meetings and clinical supervision (individual and/or group) Change method and degree of therapy when indicated by Student reactions as clinically appropriate. To maintain Student progress notes and manage other administrative responsibilities Document and maintains client's medical records, and prepares necessary documentation and reports. Submit therapy notes for both individual and group sessions to appropriate clinical supervisor/ Program Clinical Administrator Learn and utilize electronic health record/database. Refer clients to supportive services as necessary to supplement treatment and counseling Assist clients stay within Mission Academy boundaries and expectations To provide spiritually sensitive leadership for SDRM clients Serve as a spiritual resource and touch point for Mission Academy Students as appropriate in the context of a therapeutic relationship Embodying the integration of sound clinical practice with spiritual depth as an example to both Students (clients) and staff Partner with Advocates to meet the mental and spiritual needs of the students that meet criteria for a referral to internal therapy. To represent our Mission, Vision and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually Embody a Mission-wide perspective beyond the specific program you serve Remain mindful of the organization's Mission and Vision as a filter for all we do Embody SDRM's organizational values: Faith, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence Intentionally participate in spiritual disciplines and practices that continue to grow your relationship with Christ Willingly engage to resolve conflicts with co-workers, clients, and community partners as necessary Skills / Requirements: Education: Minimum master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or related field from an accredited institution and registered as an intern/associate with the BBS. Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time work experience with individuals experiencing mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders, homelessness, various addiction challenges, is preferred. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and Dialectical behavior therapy trained or willingness to be trained. Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance. Language: Bilingual (Spanish), preferred Special License/Certification: Special License/Certification: Registered or licensed-eligible as an ASW or an Intern with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Clinical supervision will be provided to obtain hours for licensure. Travel/Transportation: The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.
