Associate Medical Director Masonic Villages of Pennsylvania - Home Health, Hospice, and Home Care Campus - is immediately hiring a Permanent Contract Associate Medical Director for our Hospice team. Our Associate Medical Director is responsible for the following: Assumes responsibility for the medical component of the hospice's patient care program. Reviewing patient ineligibility for hospice services. Reviewing the patient's clinical information before the recertification period for each patient which includes a face to face visit by the medical director or designee before the third (3rd) benefit period and with each subsequent benefit period. Serving as a consultant with the attending physician regarding pain control and symptom management. Provide consultation service to the clinical staff on problems relating to the patient's medical care as needed. Provide consultation concerning clinical protocols. Serving as the attending physician if designated by the patient/family unit. Participating in the review and update of the Plan of Care for each patient at a minimum of every 15 calendar days. Documenting the patient's progress toward the outcomes specified in the Plan of Care. Serving as a medical resource for the hospice interdisciplinary group and as a liaison to physicians in the community. Developing and coordinating procedures for the provision of emergency care. Proving a system to assure continuing education for hospice clinical staff as needed. Provide direction and education for field staff as needed. Arrange for continuous physician coverage when unavailable to perform duties. Exercise medical leadership in utilization review and quality assurance through chart audits and monitoring clinical practice of attending physicians. Participate in an On-call rotation for clinical phone consultation and occasional emergency Face to Face visits with Hospice Patients. What You Have: Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school with doctor of medicine or osteopathy Degree. Certificate/Licenses: Currently licensed and legally authorized as a physician (MD or DO) to Practice medicine and prescribe pharmaceuticals and medical treatments in the State of Pennsylvania. Must be Board Certified in a related specialty such as internal medicine, oncology or family Practice and have expertise in the medical care of terminally ill patients. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with Pennsylvania requirements. Work Experience: Two (2) years' experience in relating to hospice patients, skilled care and Palliative care as a medical director, attending physician and /or consultant. Must be knowledgeable in the Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation as well as all Federal, state and local regulations. Participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Freedom from illegal use/abuse of drugs and freedom from use and effects of drugs/alcohol in the workplace. Note: Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care setting/private home and persons who have been excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal health care program are ineligible for this position. Must be knowledgeable about the medical and psychosocial aspects of hospice care. Demonstrates expertise in managing pain and other symptoms associated with terminal illness regardless of the setting in which the patient is receiving services. Demonstrates knowledge of and a respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of all patients/caregivers served. Demonstrates compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations. Develops and maintains cooperative working with hospice staff, other professionals and physicians in the community.
