The CEC Advancement team will create opportunities that promote and support the strategic plan of CEC and the university through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.About the Position:The Associate Director of Development, Constituent Engagement works with alumni and volunteer leadership to design and implement engagement programs, activities, and events related to George Mason University's College of Engineering and Computing (CEC). The Associate Director is responsible for engagement, cultivation, stewardship strategies for alumni, and volunteer leadership to lead the financial support of CEC.Responsibilities: * Works closely with the CEC Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations team to create and execute effective ways of engaging with CEC alumni and constituents at all degree levels; * Organizes and implements special events for alumni engagement for CEC and the departments within the College including CEC Giving Day and GMU Vision Day events; * Coordinates with College faculty, centers, and programs on alumni engagement events and projects; * Develops and maintains an event(s) timeline with goal targets, benchmarks, actual results, deadlines, and follow-up plans; * Coordinates ongoing communication plan to alumni with the CEC Marketing and Communication team and GMU Central Development Communication and Alumni Relations offices; * Serves as the lead manager for the CEC Alumni Chapter by working with volunteer leadership to plan strategy, elections, events, and communications; * Encourages volunteer participation and facilitates engagement in CEC activities; * Supports the qualification efforts of the Advancement team by performing discovery work through one-on-one visits with volunteers and donor prospects; * Meets or exceeds metrics for events, meetings, and outreach as determined by the Senior Director of Advancement; * Manages budget for events to accomplish event goals within the budget assigned by the Senior Director of Advancement; * Develops strategies to support the cultivation of a portfolio of engaged alumni and prospects; * Maintains ongoing communications with alumni and volunteer leadership through written correspondence and personal visits; * Spearheads donor recognition events and societies in conjunction with the central donor relations team and participates in fundraising events for major donors with the goal of donor engagement and support; * Assists as needed in other College development events, programs, and activities, some of which occur on evenings or weekends; * Assists in managing, cultivating, and soliciting advisory board and volunteer leaders, as assigned; * Works with the College's departments to include donors in department-level events such as public lectures and seminars; * Utilizes data-driven reporting, engaging and moving alumni through engagement opportunities, individual appeals, recognition events, and advisory board work; and * Maintains accurate and timely records using university development data management and reporting systems. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a related field; * Considerable experience in constituent engagement (typically three or more years); * Demonstrated success at alumni relations and planning special events; * Strong interpersonal skills working with colleagues and constituents; * Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multitask; * Strong written and verbal communication skills; * Familiarity with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn donor database (Salesforce); and * Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse groups of colleagues and constituents. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in a related field; * Significant experience in constituent engagement (typically five or more years); and * An understanding of and appreciation for higher education institutional advancement.
