Covenant College - Position Description Associate Director of Admissions Recruiting STATUS: Regular, Full-time REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management UPDATED: January 2023 POSITION SUMMARY The Associate Director of Admissions Recruiting provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Office of Admissions recruiters. This position is responsible for collaborating with the AVP for Enrollment Management to formulate, recommend, design and manage the implementation of enrollment plans and to achieve annual recruitment targets, in keeping with established College admissions priorities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for effective staff management, including attracting and hiring, training and development, performance management, and the promotion of an innovative work environment for admission recruitment staff. Motivate and retain talented employees. Identify performance trends, encourage professional growth opportunities, and deliver individual and team feedback through coaching. Additionally oversee the development program for admission recruitment staff. I n partnership with senior leadership, develop and implement an effective and integrated, short and long-range recruitment and enrollment strategy. Manage and refine recruitment efforts of the plan. Partner with other departments to ensure new and prospective students receive exceptional service, fostering trust and cooperation between the Office of Admissions and other departments. This will include Faculty, Athletics, Alumni and Constituent Relations, Marketing, Financial Aid, Student Affairs and others. Manage outside strategic working partnerships and relationships with churches, high schools and alumni by building a strong support network with Covenant's owning denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), and specific para-church organizations such as Mission to the World (MTW), Women in the Church (WIC), The Gospel Coalition (TGC), Youth Excelling in Leadership (YXL), Association of Christian Schools International (A.C.S.I.), Teen Pact, and others. Manage assigned recruitment territory of prospective students and applicants. Counsel parents, applicants, and school counselors regarding the College's admission policies and procedures. Represent college at various recruitment events both on and off-campus. Ensure compliance with all government and accreditation requirements in admissions. Monitor department and staff compliance with applicable regulations and standards throughout all aspects of the enrollment process, including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and redirecting supervised admissions counselors; and, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Prepare and manage departmental budget for recruitment efforts with AVP for Enrollment Management. Maintain knowledge of best practices, new developments, and innovations in enrollment strategies in higher education. Assist in preparing reports for the Board of Trustees, including gathering data, identifying trends, and relaying the broader landscape of higher education. Ability to effectively interact with various constituencies of the college, both internal and external. Ability to persuade, market and sell new ideas. Ability to manage/implement projects and contribute to concept development. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Minimum of five (5) years experience in higher education admissions (or related field) with progressive increase in responsibility. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to deliver engaging presentations to a large and diverse audience. Ability to maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues and constituents. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduate degree in a related field Working knowledge of Google Apps Demonstrated experience effectively managing a team of people, with specific experience in hiring, training, building teams, coaching, and managing performance. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and other job-related technology. Remain in stationary position the majority (75%) of the workday Lifting : occasionally; classified as light, lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs. Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: ~ 30%-40% required.
