This role will strategically plan, manage and implement all aspects of NCAA, conference and institutional compliance and compliance monitoring. Responsibility for building a culture of compliance and leader of compliance efforts as St. Thomas seeks divisional eclassification with the NCAA. Specific duties include: NCAA rules education, building institutional compliance systems, rules interpretation, leading investigations of NCAA rules violations and administer NCAA appeals, waiver, eligibility, financial aid and reporting. This position will serve as the primary campus liaison with the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Student Data & Registrar. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NCAA/Conference Rules Compliance Subject matter expert with all applicable NCAA legislation, divisional rules manual and conference rules Provide written updates and interpretations of current, new and proposed NCAA and conference rules and regulations Research and respond to inquiries regarding rules and compliance interpretations Work directly with NCAA eligibility center and conference office Responsible for all NCAA waiver requests, appeals, interpretation requests, eligibility, financial aid and reporting Monitoring and Eligibility Coordination Oversee compliance monitoring activities including but not limited to all recruiting related activities Administer on and off-campus recruiting monitoring, including general recruiting operations, off-campus recruiting, contact and evaluations, official and unofficial visits and telephone calls Approve and monitor all prospective student-athlete official and unofficial visits Work closely with academic staff on an ongoing basis regarding eligibility status of prospects, transfers and current athletes Investigate, prepare documentation, and report violations to the appropriate sport coach or staff member, student-athlete or administrator Monitor all NCAA and conference playing and practice season legislation and limitations Coach, staff and student-athlete education and training Create and conduct rules education seminars/materials for student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff members and campus partners on NCAA and conference rules and regulations Develop educational materials/presentations for support Facilitate all annual compliance tests Compliance Systems Identify, build and execute an institutional compliance software system in an effort to ensure that all coaches, staff and administrators are up-to-date on how to operate the systems and properly monitor functional usage Maintain all compliance related documentation Financial Aid Serve as the primary liaison with the Office of Financial Aid Establish an institutional structure and program for grant-in-aid offers Monitor student-athlete financial aid while working closely with the St. Thomas Financial Aid Other duties as assigned by Sr. Associate Athletic Director, Administration.QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field Five or more years of direct athletics compliance experience at an NCAA member institution, conference office or NCAA national office An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
