Salary: $48,599 - $61,911 Grade: 13 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to work on data collection, lab management, environmental health and safety monitoring, and general lab procedures. Position will be in the lab of Dr. Kevin Bath. Work will include conducting independent wet lab and rodent behavioral experiments, assisting graduate student and postdoctoral fellows with conducting rodent behavioral experiments, processing of biological tissues, data entry and analysis, and animal husbandry duties. This work is being carried out in the Division of Developmental Neuroscience and focused on understanding the impact of adversity on brain and behavioral development in model systems. We are looking for a full time employee who is detail oriented and has a flexible schedule. Duties and Responsibilities: Looking for individuals to assist with animal husbandry (35%), lab management (20%), bench experiments (15%), data entry/analysis (15%), and tissue processing (15%). This will include assisting graduate student and postdoctoral fellows in the execution of rodent studies, conducting independent laboratory experiments, working with EH&S and DCM staff to maintain lab safety and cleanliness, and to prepare for inspections. Training in wet lab techniques and husbandry will be provided by the current lab manager, the principal investigator, graduate student, and postdoctoral fellow. Optimally, the person will be detail oriented, have experience working with animals, familiarity with excel and Prism data analysis software, and have a flexible schedule. Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree prior to beginning employment. Applicant must have at least 1 year of experience working with rodents and working in a lab setting. Preferred Qualifications: It is preferred that the applicant have prior experience in histology and processing of neural tissue and conducting rodent behavioral experiments. It is preferred that the applicant have experience with microscopy. RFMH employees may be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 depending on work location and must provide proof of vaccination.
