Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Physics: The Department of Natural Sciences at Daemen University anticipates hiring a tenure track faculty with a focus on teaching undergraduate physics using inclusive, evidence-based practices . The position is at the assistant professor rank and is a full-time, nine-month appointment. The main responsibilities are teaching physics lecture and laboratory courses for allied health and natural science majors, especially at the introductory level. There is also potential for upper-level elective courses within the candidate's area of expertise. Secondary responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate research students, from diverse backgrounds, in projects within the applicant's area of expertise (either scientific, or discipline based education research), and service to the department, college, University, and community. Minimum Qualifications: Education Ph.D. or Ed.D. in physics, physics education, science education, or STEM (with focus on physics); Dedication to evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices of undergraduate students in physics; Dedication to teach, mentor, and support students from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge and Skills Experience with "active learning", in both online and face-to-face modalities; Experience with developing an engaging laboratory curriculum, along with preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; Demonstration of analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities, to assure compliance with established goals and objectives; Specialization in the area of geophysics or astrophysics is preferred, but not required; Demonstration of strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents; Experience in research, teaching, and/or service to historically underrepresented and underserved communities.
