Tubular Steel, a member of the Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. family of companies, is a leading national distributor of carbon, alloy, and stainless steel pipe, tubing, and bar products. We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Product Manager in our Product Department. This position is located at our Headquarters office in Creve Coeur, MO. We are looking for an individual who can support a Product Manager or group of Product Managers to help achieve company growth and return on investment objectives. Responsibilities include: Involvement in buying and selling decisions to meet the needs of internal and external customers, our suppliers & our stakeholders Contribute to the processes of purchasing inventory, managing inventory performance and establishing market transaction prices Support efforts to meet company objectives with respect to margins Assist with market research studies and new product development activities Negotiate purchasing prices with oversight and approval of Product Manager Provide technical support to the Company's Sales staff Other duties as assigned Widely respected in the industry, we have good relationships with our suppliers and have unusual autonomy in controlling inventory and pricing. We seek an Assistant Product Manager with the desire, commitment and well-rounded business sense to grow into these responsibilities. If you are willing to assess and take calculated risks, are motivated by accountability, are skilled at building consensus, and are bottom-line oriented, then you may be interested in this position. The ideal candidate must be able to lead the company's initiatives, engage salespeople, try new things, and be fully accountable to develop our customer base, improving our inventory quality, enhancing profits, and positioning us for long-term growth. Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience with buying, inventory management, pricing strategies, and customer interactions; Strong math, and written and oral communications skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and collaborate are essential; Bachelor's degree in business is preferred; Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal direction; Experience leading an initiative with positive results; Experience being part of a team; A strong understanding of pricing and margin control.
