Company Profile The Plant Company is a newly established business currently under construction for its Phase 1 production facility. Phase 1 construction encompasses a 5 acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5 acre production barn. The Plant Company is constructing a state of the art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality. We believe that "together we grow stronger", which applies to employees, vendors and of course customers. Job Summary Carry out daily implementation of growing processes and addressing crop needs (e.g. irrigation, fertility, EC and pH management, pest management). Assist greenhouse grower to finish crops on time, at the correct quantities and according to internal harvest specifications. Required Education and Experience Associates degree or Undergraduate courses in Horticulture, Plant science or related field or; A Highschool degree with 2+ years of working experience with plants in commercial greenhouse or nursery setting. Preferred Education and Experience Hands-on knowledge and working experience growing tropical foliage plants and/or bedding plants. Experience working in commercial controlled environment greenhouse setting. Ability to identify insects and plant diseases. Hours and Pay Full time position, 40+ hours a week, regular schedule Monday through Friday with weekend rotation. Starting wage range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience. Tasks Identify plants as well as problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests. Determine plant growing conditions. Carry out established Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. Apply biologicals, pesticides and fertilizers to plants. Position and regulate plant irrigation systems, and program environmental and irrigation control computers. Adhere to safety regulations and policies. Inspect facilities and equipment for signs of disrepair and perform necessary maintenance work. Maintain clean growing facilities, ensure that areas are free from weeds and debris, both inside and out. Record information about plants and plant growth. Other duties as assigned. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Social Skills Teaching others how to do something. Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences. Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Complex Problem-Solving Skills Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Technical Skills Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
