Job Summary Under general direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for driving results on month-end close, financial activities and overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, and general ledger accounting functions on a daily basis. This position will innovate and look for new and better wats to develop and initiate systems, policies and procedures for transaction financial matters and ensure that the financial system is accurate, efficient and in accordance with professional accounting practices, governmental regulations and Park Aerospace policies and procedures. In addition, the Assistant Controller will participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports, which may include acquisitions and business unit support on an as needed basis. Essential Job Functions Take ownership of and work with the Controller in the daily banking requirements. Ensures the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions. Responsible for the monthly physical inventory process. Works with the Controller to ensure clean and timely audits. Ensures the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Be an agent of change by monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Problem solve with the accounting staff and other departments regarding the handling of non-routine transactions by researching and interpreting accounting policies, applying observations, and recommendations to operational issues. Responsible for weekly P&L reports Prepare and review account reconciliations for the entire organization. Proactively works with Controller on various consolidated internal reporting schedules on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Coordinate with the Controller with issues related to internal financial reporting functions, including driving weekly P/L calls. Compile and maintain the global data base of customer credit information for the purpose of identifying potential changes to credit exposures, and monitor customer accounts receivable aging relative to established credit limits. Manage and develop an accounting staff of three, including being an advocate for the Park Aerospace Niche Culture. Provides meaningful training to new and existing staff as needed. Manages all personnel issues relating to staff. Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Education/Experience/Skills Required S. Degree in Accounting or Finance. Five or more years of progressive responsibility in accounting preferably in aerospace manufacturing. Physical Requirements This position requires normal dexterity, speech and hearing. Specific vision abilities required by this job require frequent use of a computer monitor Be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally. Training Requirements Hazard Communication Training Training to applicable procedures that relate to area of responsibility.
