Office: Residence Life Reports to: Associate Director of Residence Life Work Period: 12 Month Hours: Full Time Overtime: Non-Exempt Job Grade: 4 General Summary: Provides leadership to on-campus residential areas (residence halls and/or apartments) and serves primarily in the roles of supervisor, educator, counselor, and administrator. Area Coordinator has the responsibility for developing and maintaining residential communities which foster the growth and success of Agnes Scott students. The Area Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Residence Life and is an integral member of the central leadership team. The Area Coordinator position will have the opportunity to have a focus area that aligns with the institutional mission. Areas may include health and wellness, leadership, and/or global learning. Essential Job Functions: Adheres to University and department policies, procedures and regulations. Provides leadership of the health and wellbeing of students within the residential halls that includes a specific focus on the 8 dimensions of wellness (physical, emotional, social, intellectual, environmental, spiritual, vocational and financial) through both passive and active programming, on and off campus collaborations, and facilitating the connection of students to resources to support their wellness. Provides direct supervision of graduate assistants and resident advisors. Participates in the selection, training and evaluation of graduate assistants and resident assistants. Maintains open lines of communication with Residence Life staff members. Supports the operational functions for residence halls such as building walkthroughs, damage assessment, room inspections, reporting and billing, maintenance requests, hall openings and closings and other administrative tasks. Participates in the Residence Life on-call rotation Works closely with the Counseling and Psychological Services department, Dean of Students Office, ASC Police, and other campus resources. Represents the Office of Residence Life on college committees as assigned and at college events. Serves on departmental collaborative assignments (in-services, service projects, healthy campus taskforce, etc.). Assist in the management of COVID-19 policies REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field from an accredited college/university Experience: At least three years of professional experience in higher education following graduate school is required; three to five years of experience in residence life is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Possess strong knowledge of residential life philosophy and student development theory. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Possess interpersonal/human relation skills; commitment to diversity; and conflict resolution skills. Possess strong detail management skills; organizational/planning skills; and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of current educational trends, politics of thought and protocols. Good listening skills and communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and electronic mail Irregular and on-call hours are required Due to the nature of the position and on-call responsibilities area coordinator is required to live in on campus housing; housing is provided with the position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking and occasional moving of heavy objects. Work is performed in an office or residence hall, with potential exposure to noise, diseases, chemicals, inclement weather, dirt, grease or dust.
