Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is excited to announce the position of Architecture Summer Intern. This will be a 10-week part-time paid internship at Community First! Village (CFV) from June 2023 to August 2023. Community First! Village is a 51-acre master-planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing, and a supportive community for the chronically homeless in Travis County. The Architecture & Site Development team is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of 51 acres of existing community and a 127 acre expansion currently under construction. The Architecture Summer Intern is an integral part of the Architecture & Site Development team. The primary role of the Architecture Summer Intern is to provide project support for design and construction projects at Community First! Village. This is a part-time position reporting to the Architectural Design Coordinator. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, hours are flexible to fit needs, but are typically within 9 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday for 20-30 hours per week. The Architecture Summer Intern will office at Community First! Village, which is located at 9301 Hog Eye Road Austin, TX 78724. Duties and Responsibilities Collect and analyze site and post-occupancy data to help prioritize upcoming design projects. Develop architectural graphics to communicate CFV design, history, goals, and priorities. Work with the Safety team to develop informational floor plans and diagrams. Provide project support for ongoing home and community building design for future phases of development. Attend project meetings for projects at various scales and various design phases. Attend construction administration walks for projects at various scales and various stages. Provide project support for ongoing facilities and operations projects for existing phases. Other duties and responsibilities to support ASD as needed. Attend MLF staff meetings and events. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals. The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about the nonprofit/social sector and MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals. Pursuing a degree in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, planning, architectural engineering, or another relevant field. The ability to stay flexible and act with humility toward the population we serve. Strong design sensibility and ability to represent the aesthetic goals of CFV's built environment. Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to creatively problem-solve when faced with unexpected or unique challenges. Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail. Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to move about Community First! Village phases. Ability to work in an office setting.
