Position Summary: The Architectural Production Designer provides leadership, drafting support on projects, and vision to the firm in the area of CAD and Revit. This role manages all phases of CAD/Revit education, development and implementation of StudioSIX5 drafting standards, as well as ensures the production and quality requirements of StudioSIX5 design and construction documents are met. The Architectural Production Designer is responsible for resolving CAD/Revit related issues when they arise including recommendations and the purchase of new hardware and software. This role initiates continuous improvement in processes and procedures and provides direction and support to all production staff. The Architectural Production Designer develops and maintains standards, training programs, systems, processes and best practices and then ensures consistency of use. This role successfully reviews and oversees construction documents produced in-house or by a 3rd party in order to maintain office consistency and level of acceptance and processes. By establishing and maintaining educational and production standards, this role is instrumental in increasing project profitability. The Architectural Production Designer ensures that StudioSIX5 design documentation is organized and clear in communicating design and construction intent with owner, consultants and general contractor. Measures of Success: Effectively provides technical and educational support to all StudioSIX5 production staff on all CAD/Revit software. Works with all team Project Managers to ensure StudioSIX5 documents are fully coordinated with all consultant drawings with minimal review time by Senior Project Manager(s). Architectural Production Designers (production staff) are successful in their role. Minimum contractor clarifications during Construction Administration. Develop, establish and enforce all StudioSIX5 drafting standards & families. Meets with Operations to discuss progress of production staff and training requirements. Develops and maintains relationships with 3rd party (out of house) production studios. SS5 will contract the production of Design Development and Construction Documents as needed. This position is the contact point between SS5 and 3rd party production studios, including the administrating of contracts. Duties/Responsibilities: Develops, maintains and oversees Revit & AutoCAD drafting standards & families. Provides drafting support to all Design Teams as required. Oversees and trains Design Teams on StudioSIX5 production standards as needed. Researches and stays abreast of new software development and informs Operations if applicable. Troubleshoots minor glitches in systems, software integration issues, and provides some minor IT support. Works with IT Director to resolve issues relating to computer hardware and CAD licensing. Coordinates QA/QC schedule with Senior Project Managers. Generates written technology evaluations for future software adoption. Ensures Architectural Production Designers have capabilities to lead, contribute & guide team production staff. Is involved in the hiring process of new production staff and develop testing to assess CAD/Revit capabilities to make recommendations to management. Assesses StudioSIX5 drafting capabilities per individual & provides proper training programs to advance the overall drafting expertise for production staff. Requests & maintains "Release of Liability" forms from all architects when collaborating with architects using Revit at start of project. Coordinates with IT Director to provide a proposed budget for all CAD/Revit technology items. Maintains CAD/Revit document archives, standard details, families and retrieval for projects. Customizes CAD/Revit programs to meet StudioSIX5 standards. Maintains CAD/Revit software inventory and coordinates information with IT Manager. Maintain and customize Revit templates to meet StudioSIX5 standards. Provide on board training for all new hires to provide a seamless transition to StudioSIX5 drafting standards. Leverages software capabilities and best practices for implementation during all phases of work, from pre-design planning through construction. Training teams to effectively utilize software as a design tool to create process illustrations, lighting studies, augmented and virtual reality modeling, and capturing and scheduling data. Schedules regular in-house meetings with Production Leads. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and train others. Exhibits proficiency in current industry software. Extensive technical knowledge of building systems, specifications and construction methods. Extensive technical knowledge of design process and principals involved in production of precision technical documents, drawings and models. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to be proactive and maintain a positive attitude with a resourceful approach. Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow a task to completion. Advanced computer skills to include AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3DS Max, Enscape, BIM360, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), working knowledge of VR/AR software, and Adobe Creative Suite is required. Experience / Education: Five plus (5+) years of experience as CAD/Revit Production in an Architectural/Interior Design firm is required. A minimum of one-year supervisory experience or training equivalent. Experience in leading the production document effort for senior living, hospitality, multi-family and healthcare design is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design from a CIDA accredited program is preferred. Mandatory annual continuing education requirements. The utmost care must be taken to assure confidential information and documents are always secure. This position requires 0% travel nationwide. This position requires occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and after hours' availability. This position requires a current and valid driver's license.
