About the job You lead all aspects of web development, requirements gathering, software development, testing, documentation, training, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance for both in-house and customer-facing web applications. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Googlers using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. You are empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate to meet user and customer needs.As an Application Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, deploying, and supporting Google's internal business applications serving the Devices and Services team. When the situation calls for it, you'll be part of a team that implements vendor sourced enterprise software, configuring that software, customizing it, and integrating with other internal systems. Other times, you'll be primarily tasked with creating custom-built software.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 4 years of experience working with Java, API development, and web services. Experience working with various cloud technologies for IaaS, PaaS, caching, pubsub, streaming, and SQL and NoSQL storage. Experience developing internal business applications and business integration. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience implementing, customizing, and integrating third-party applications in the supply chain and/or sales space. Experience with application suites like NetSuite, Oracle EBS, and Salesforce. Experience participating in multiple full system implementation life cycles (e.g., analyze, design, build, test, implement, support). Excellent collaboration and communication skills, strong analytical skills, and a bias toward action. Responsibilities Write clear, modular, well-structured, and self-sustaining code, develop overall systems design and research, evaluate vendor supplied applications, and develop recommendations on those applications. Build internal solutions, with custom front-end and back-end services with minimal assistance, and identify processes and solutions to ensure controls compliance can be enforced and monitored. Help design, build, and deploy internal business applications to support Google's technology lifecycle, collaboration and spaces, service delivery management, and data and business intelligence. Conduct and oversee testing of application modules to ensure application meets specifications and collaborate with analysts and business process owners within one or more teams to help translate business requirements into technical solutions.
