The RF Technology Group develops and demonstrates innovative radio-frequency (RF) technologies and integrated subsystems as solutions to emerging national security needs in radar, electronic warfare, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and special communications. To execute its RF research and development mission, the group develops and tests novel RF solutions at the device and semiconductor level up through the full RF subsystem level, with an emphasis on highly integrated, small-form-factor RF subsystems. The group collaboratively interacts with research groups across the Laboratory to take projects from initial concept stage, through simulation and analysis, to design and prototyping, and finally to field demonstration. Job Description - Technical Staff – Antenna Array Development Engineer The RF Technology group seeks a full-time antenna and array design lead to champion the development of antenna arrays for next generation RF systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for definition and development of advanced antenna arrays. The position includes defining, simulating, implementing and validating antennas and array architectures capable of supporting multiple RF modalities. Additionally, the position also includes development and/or integration of advanced microwave hardware including beamformers, T/R modules, receivers, transmitters, and components for implementation of advanced RF capabilities. Responsibilities will include participation in, and oversight of small teams from concept through development including system and component modeling, experimental prototyping, microwave measurements, and demonstration of results for advanced RF systems. An ideal candidate will be able to work independently in a number of these areas and lead a small team of developers in larger system designs. Requirements: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field, with particular emphasis on antenna design and testing. In lieu of a Ph.D., a Master’s degree with a minimum of six (6) years of direct experience will be considered.
