As an AmeriCorps Member Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting educational initiatives and making a positive impact on the lives of students. You will work closely with other program staff to provide educational support and promote student success. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the community.Duties:- Work directly with AmeriCorps Members ages 17-24 to obtain their HSED through tutoring each member's area(s) of need- Provide individualized support to students in various subjects- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies- Support students with special needs or learning disabilities- Assist with organizing testing through Madison Area Technical College-Provide transportation to testing at Madison Area Technical College, Portage campus- Help create a positive learning environmentSkills:- Strong knowledge of lesson planning techniques and curriculum development- Experience working with secondary education- Ability to educate and engage students of diverse backgrounds and abilities- Excellent management skills- Knowledge of special education strategies and accommodations- Experience working with adult learners or providing adult education- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, and parents/guardians- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenPosition is year-round. Eligible for paid time off. Up to 10 hours per week, with the hours being flexible and variable between 8am-3pm Monday through Friday.Must be a U.S. Citizen or have permanent resident status, per AmeriCorps regulations.
