POSITION SUMMARY: Knowledgeable of State Road laws and aware of speed limits, visibility and road conditions at all times. Drivers must have a valid chauffeur's license in the State of Iowa and have/maintain a good driving record. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DETAILED DUTIES: Ensures the safety of the patient, the attendant, and the public. Demonstrates an awareness of road safety requirements, as well as the specific tasks that are assigned to the ambulance driver. Remains knowledgeable of the State Road laws and is always aware of speed limits, visibility and road conditions. Utilizes lights and siren when needed. Always uses seat belts and demonstrates road courtesy, but drives defensively. Always uses correct radio procedures including reporting actions to dispatcher and asking for traffic control if and when an emergency call is in progress. Assists attendant in a professional manner in retrieving needed equipment and providing patient care to save life and limb. Is fully knowledgeable of geographic area within six months of employment. Knows locations of towns/villages, knows local landmarks and is familiar with housing and business layout of communities. Completes annual review of Emergency Vehicle Operations driving policy. Completes annual review of Iowa laws regarding emergency vehicle operations. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Current First Responder certification from the State of Iowa. BLS (CPR) certified or obtained within 3 months of employment. Valid chauffeurs license in the State of Iowa. Current AED training. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
