POSITION: Affinity Coordinator LOCATION : Northwest Youth Corps Headquarters, Eugene, Oregon .Will require travel to remote training and project locations, which may include travelling within OR, WA, and ID. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC), a non-profit organization, has given tens of thousands of youth and young adults opportunities to learn, grow, and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. More importantly, these young people gain skills needed to become economically and socially self-sufficient, benefit their communities as citizen stewards, and recognize that they can make a positive difference. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC). POSITION SUMMARY The Outdoor Affinity Programs Coordinator (OAPC) is a critical member of the Conservation Corps program team who works to coordinate and support the successful participation of underrepresented youth and young adult applicants into Northwest Youth Corps programs. The UCPPC works closely with land management partners to plan, schedule, and execute critical resource management projects with the crews they oversee. POSITION DETAILS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Support Promote continued organization support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Seek to remove barriers to participation in NYC programs for underrepresented Work specifically to support teams from historically underrepresented communities in the successful completion of NYC programming . Department Supervision and collaborations This position is supervised by the state program manager in the assigned location This position will supervise seasonal field staff and/or contractors. This position collaborates with Member Services and Operations Departments. Risk Management Responsibilities Serve as a lead trainer in field skills and protocols. Provide ongoing feedback and support to crewleaders around safety and risk management topics. Serve as a field responder and/or supporter for field staff managing a medical and/or mental health situation in the field Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Engaging with community partners to plan and schedule service projects in urban centers. Working directly with tribal partners to build culturally relevant programming. Build new relationships with stakeholders and stakeholder groups Workwithavarietyofinternalandexternalstakeholderstoensureprograms have logistical support as needed. Hiring and training seasonal field leaders who manage day-to-day crew Providing technical and social/emotional support to field staff and crews prior to and during the implementation of Overseeing the tracking of crew accomplishments, paperwork and reporting Ensure NYC safety, education and workplace standards are Support the learning, growth, and success of participants and leaders. Help NYC analyze and adjust elements of our Urban and Community programs for continuous improvement. Position Qualifications & Certifications The Programs and Partnership Coordinator must have superior work ethic, strong communication and interpersonal skills. The right person for this position will be hard working, eager to learn, solution oriented, and enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. CPR, Wilderness First Aid (WFA) required (or obtained in the first 90 days of employment). Pass a background check A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university or related experience highly desired, preferably in parks management, resource management, or related field. Reliable and self-motivated. Superior problem solving skills. Strong leadership qualities. Outstanding ability to work with people from all backgrounds and temperaments. Exceptional organizational skills. Fluent in a second language (Spanish preferred) Appreciation for working with youth in the outdoors Physical Demands/Work Environment Work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job. Physical demands-the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving. In the performance of the job duties, the employee will work in a variety of environments from an office setting to remote locations in the wilderness. This position will work outside in all types of weather conditions and environments including but not limited to high elevations, remote areas, cold, rain, snow, heat, humidity, wind, etc. The noise level in the environment is quiet to loud. PPE is provided and use is required. The employee must - frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodation). Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM; with periodic long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities seasonally.
