TITLE: Admissions Counselor REPORTS TO: Director of Undergraduate Admissions LOCATION: Amherst, NY Campus REQUIREMENTS: The Admissions Counselor must have a minimum of an earned Bachelor's Degree from a regional accredited institution and a working knowledge of college purpose and function. The Admissions Counselor must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. Travel, valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Admissions Counselor represents Daemen College to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The successful admissions counselor exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions. The counselor creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreaches to businesses and organizations. Terms of Employment: This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) 12-month position. Salary is competitive and includes full College benefits and professional development opportunities. Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. Standard Background Check Required. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Discuss Daemen College programs and services accurately to prospective students and families. Travel to and from recruitment events; engage in key stakeholders in a positive, proactive, and engaging manner. Complete weekly activity report to include documentation of recruitment/ outreach activities and student appointments. Ability to work on a registration deadline, strive towards college-wide enrollment goals and use outstanding customer service to recruit students to the College's programs. Review applications and make enrollment decisions based on Daemen's admission standards for first year, transfer, and graduate student candidates. Role may specialize in specifically in first year, transfer, or graduate. Familiarity with engaging each type of student candidate preferred. Utilize phone, email, and mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service. Work with prospective students to garner completed application files prior to enrollment and efforts to increase retention. Become familiar with working territory and demographics of cities/towns in that area to best reach the student population for Daemen College. Collaborate with our growing alumni network to develop new student/professional networks, garner student referrals. Under the direction of the Director, participate in the events prior, during, and after each term such as information sessions, orientations, registration events and graduation. Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the College in a positive manner. Ability to follow the expectation of treating fellow employees, students and the institution's guests with civility, and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the college. Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism. Must be able to lift 25 lbs and stand for an extended period of time as part of travel and college fair recruitment. Perform other duties as needed General Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday. Working Conditions: Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting. Post-Hire Trainings: Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
