The Adjunct hybrid faculty roles teach assigned courses in person and asynchronously online. This role also maintains office hours as assigned. Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to join our academics team. We are currently in search of a passionate professor for an undergraduate level English class for the upcoming Summer quarter, starting July 1st in a hybrid format. The hybrid format is described as teaching the course in both the in-person and online modalities. This role requires 11 in-person meeting sessions for 2 hours every week held at a predetermined scheduled time (day/evening) at a specific Strayer University Campus. The balance of the course is instructed asynchronously online.Strayer Adjunct Faculty are not just instructors; they are also coaches and mentors. Our faculty members strive to ignite a life-long love of learning in our students and to be flexible with their diverse learning styles. We believe in a strong faculty-student relationship and building a community in the classroom. Teach courses as assigned from a pre-designed curriculum and utilize your professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum using technology and videos.Arrive on-campus at least half an hour prior to the start time of in-person sessions per week during the academic quarter.Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience for the online component of the course.Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to ensure students receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success.Establish high standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated.Adhere to University policies and procedures.Attend faculty meetings and workshops or training as required. Job Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) software and overall computer skills.Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation.Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course objectives.Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Excellent oral and written communication skills.Effective time management skills. Work Experience: Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred.Evidence of professional or academic experience with writing, planning, and communications-related technology required. Education: Master's degree in English, English Education, or Communications OR Master's degree in a related area with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter hours of graduate course work in Composition and/or Communications and/or Literature required. Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable). Other: Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 - 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 - 10%). Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs. If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location. Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location. This role may require lifting, however reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with our ADA policies. Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers. Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant. Accommodations related to schedule may be considered. Able to access information using a computer.
