Montereau is currently seeking a full-time Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to work Tuesday & Thursday, 11am - 7pm, and Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday, 8:45am - 5pm. Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Position Summary Provide regular activities that benefit the health and well-being of Health Center residents, matching their interests and assessment information in order to provide a high quality of life. Essential Functions of a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Develop, plan, and implement a well-rounded monthly schedule of recreational activities for assigned Health Center residents that address and meet the needs of varying functional levels. Promote activity participation using resident calendars, newsletters, and mailings to family members to ensure maximum participation of residents. Complete monthly summaries for assigned residents in a timely manner. Participate in weekly Care Conferences to assure that residents' physical and emotional factors are considered in their care plan and communicated to family members as appropriate. Consult, as needed, on skilled residents. Other Functions Assure that program materials, supplies, and equipment inventory are ordered and maintained to support the schedule of activities. Assist with special events throughout the community, as needed. Perform other related functions as required or as assigned . Position Requirements of a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Experience: Previous experience working with an older adult population or in the healthcare field is preferred Previous experience in coordinating small and large group activities is preferred Education/Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor degree in Therapeutic Recreation or other related field; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training is required Oklahoma Activity and Social Services Directors training program is preferred CPR certification is required Valid state driver license is required Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is preferred Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Intermediate computer competency and ability to use and learn a variety of software programs, specifically Microsoft Office programs and electronic health record programs; ability to operate electronic audio-visual equipment Solid problem solving skills and decision making skills Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of quality customer management and service Strong verbal communication skills to effectively address issues and concerns with diverse populations while showing empathy and compassion Ability to effectively interact with a diverse leadership team, staff, residents, and third party associates, including vendors, providers, and visitors Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential communications and information, while maintaining a high level of poise, tact, and diplomacy Physical Demands: In order to accomplish the essential functions of this position, the following are required: An extensive amount of standing, walking, kneeling and bending at the waist, with a moderate amount of sitting, and reaching above the head and shoulders Ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds and push wheelchairs with loads of up to 300 lbs Frequent use of ordinary communication, including normal levels of hearing and vision Ability to use a computer or other office equipment for an extensive period of time Ability to work extended hours, as required Ability to occasionally travel by car and/or commercial airline Working Conditions: This position is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting within both a shared office environment and in a nursing resident environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels (alarms). This position also includes frequent trips outside and away from the primary facility to support activities and events offsite. Mental and Emotional Requirements: This position requires: Understanding and implementing simple written and verbal instructions, reviewing and preparing detailed reports, schedules, and medical records, and performing basic mathematical computations Planning own work Working independently or as a member of a team, and the ability to work with limited supervision Routinely working on multiple projects, under moderate amounts of pressure for results, with frequently changing priorities Safety and Security Requirements: Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test Must successfully pass a criminal background screening Must successfully pass a tuberculosis (TB) screening test Must comply with Montereau's Influenza Prevention and Vaccine Policy Must meet requirements on a motor vehicle records (MVR) check Job Posted by ApplicantPro
