To learn more about us, check out our website https://www.vistahost.com/ The Position The Accounting Supervisor will supervise, coordinate, track, and evaluate assigned day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, payroll, sales tax, bank reconciliations, licenses and permits, and other accounting functions , with an initial focus on the accounts payable and payroll functions. Daily tasks include the administration of accounting activities such as the input of A/P invoices, preparation of check runs, coordination of month end close, as well as the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules. In addition, the Accounting Supervisor will aid with the resolution of problems, completion of audits, identification of trends, determination of system improvements, and implementation of change. Location of the Position: Houston, TX Position Responsibilities Supervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of the accounts payable and payroll functions. Guide the accounts payable and payroll functions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues and offering back-up support if needed. Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll regulations from all jurisdictions, researching and reviewing timekeeping and payroll processes as issues arise, rectifying problems, and updating processes to prevent future issues. Update process documentation as needed due to changes in systems, processes, and needs. Update and maintain the mapping of accounts between systems to ensure that data is transferred from one system to another timely, accurately, and completely. Ensure that supporting schedules and analysis are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with the monthly closing schedule and support the month-end and year-end close process as directed. Assist with auditing accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, coordinating with outside auditors, and providing needed information for the annual external audits. Interact with operational personnel, vendors, financial institutions, employees and owners on various financial and administrative matters. Implement and maintain a verification process for payroll to insure the integrity of the quarterly and annual reports and W-2's, implementing additional processes as needed biweekly to allow for successful quarterly and annual reporting. Manage multiple projects and persons simultaneously, setting priorities to meet deadlines. Ensure tax rates used for sales tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued. Prepare tax worksheets, resolve tax and external compliance issues, and assist with internal/external sales tax audits and tax returns as required. Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations along with daily reconciliation of postings, accruals, credit line for advances, journal entries, and audits to ensure compliance with GAAP and that accurate financial information is available. Help to oversee that hotel permits, licenses and applicable vendor contracts are current. Perform special accounting analysis and projects, as requested.
