Job Description: The Accounting Specialist will lead and coordinate all aspects of General Accounting functions to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and company policies. Please duties associated with this role below. * Manages, tracks, and maintains fixed assets ledger by coordinating with internal departments and accounts payable. * Prepares fixed schedules for fixed assets and administers yearly fixed asset audit. * Investigates and resolves accounting software (JD Edwards) problems with MIS and/or outside consultants. * Issues, approves, and tracks Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs). * Reconciles balance sheet accounts. * Account reconciliation, analysis of prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, buy-up tooling, and capital leases. * Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly scrap reporting analysis. * Sets up vendor accounts, General Ledger codes, and Automatic Instructions in JDE. * Balances and posts payroll entries from payroll system (Paycom) into JDE. * Sets up GL interface with Paycom to ensure proper reporting. * Assists in tag control and other physical inventory duties. * Assists with Month-End Close process and Year-End audits. * Other duties as assigned. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form. * Have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes or similar application software. Experience with JD Edwards and Crystal Reports preferred. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS Prefer candidates with the following education and experience or equivalent combination of education and experience: * Bachelor's degree (B. A. /B.S.) from four-year College or University with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or other related fields. * Familiarity with GAAP standards.
