The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Accountant in the Finance Department. This position will be responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, including preparing financial reports and analyzing financial information. This position assists with month-end and year-end financial close activities, including general ledger reconciliations and annual financial audit coordinatio n. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Prepares journal entries and coordinates month-end close activities. Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances. Reports on tax collections, including sales tax, property tax, and hotel occupancy tax. Monitors cash balances and initiates transfers as needed. Assists with preparing quarterly investment reports, including related journal entries. Assists with year-end close and annual financial audit activities. Assists with preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) Maintains schedule of capital asset leases for financial reporting purposes Maintains prepaid asset schedule and records amortization. Records financial activity and assists with preparing financial statements for the Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) Updates financial information on the City's website Implements process improvements to create efficiencies. Participates in a variety of special projects. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required - Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance. Preferred - Municipal government experience.
