Easterseals Iowa is currently seeking an Accountant to support our organization. Come join an amazing, dedicated team with room to make an impact! Principle Accountabilities: General ledger reconciliations of accounts monthly, as requested. Process month-end balancing and journal entries, as requested. Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable processing and application within accounting software. Call to verify eligibility for Brain Health clients and prepare eligibility reports for all program lines to ensure clients are still receiving funding. Handle billing of insurance claims to appropriate funders. Research and provide information to Chief Financial Officer on denied insurance claims. Handle agency and department ordering. Prepare health and life insurance reconciliations at month end. Serve as backup for other accounting and supporting department functions including, but not limited to, payroll processing. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements: High School Degree Required. Insurance billing experience preferred. Knowledge of computers and computerized accounting system; nonprofit accounting knowledge preferred. Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. Experience with Microsoft Excel. Ability to work cooperatively with team members and the public in a professional and concerned manner. Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Access to reliable transportation for work-related travel. Experience with medical billing and AP/AR accounting preferred. Pay for this position starts at $18.50 an hour with a 25cent raise after a successful 90-day evaluation and review. Easterseals requires that potential employees complete a background check during their hiring process.
