REPORTS TO: Manager of Accounting DESCRIPTION: The Accountant 1 is an entry level position that focuses on processing transactions and reconciling General Ledger Accounts. All activities will have to be in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The Accountant 1 will be able to work with a team or independently. The position is located at the Murfreesboro HQ office. RESPONSIBILITIES: Process General Ledger (GL) Transactions - Journal Entries, Customer Payments or Supplier Invoices Perform Monthly General Ledger Account Reconciliations Validate Information for Accuracy Provide General Analysis as Needed Support Financial, Internal, and Tax Audits Evaluate and Recommend Improvements to Accounting Department Processes Other Duties as Assigned EDUCATION: Completed Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Business (or) Junior or Senior Student Seeking an Accounting / Business Degree EXPERIENCE: Experience in an accounting environment is a plus (Not required) SKILLS: Detail Oriented Critical Thinking / Problem Solving Must be able to work independently in the absence of supervision Basic Excel OTHER: Must be able to work overtime as required Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
