A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A NURSING ASSISTANT / CNA For every shift you work, you arrive determined to treat all patients and residents with respect and kindness as a certified Nursing Assistant / CNA. You focus on the goal of preserving their dignity when you provide the individualized physical, psychological, and social support each patient needs. You understand that maintaining a clean, neat, and organized work environment is one of your top priorities. The positive attitude that you have makes a huge impact on the lives of our short-term and long-term patients. It plays a big role in your daily interactions because you spend so much one-on-one time with them, assisting with all activities. These activities include dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, colostomy care, transferring, walking, prosthetic appliances, positioning, and range of motion exercises, you are a trusted member of their family.In addition to maintaining accurate records as required, you are patient, calm, and treat those you care for as if they are your own family. Being vigilant and quick to report any changes in the resident's conditions to the supervising nurse, you ensure that all their medical needs are met. It's your attention to detail and accuracy that helps ensure the highest quality of care. Under the supervision of the nurse, you complete specific tasks that include recording vital signs and weights, applying non-prescription creams/ointments, and collecting specimens. At the end of each day, you go home tired but feeling good about the positive impact you have made in the lives of the patients and residents in your care. QUALIFICATIONS A current Iowa state certified nursing assistant (CNA) license, if not certified we can assist in getting you certified. Can perform physical tasks typical to CNA work Passion and love for nursing Previous experience as a CNA is a plus, but not required.
