The City of Box Elder is located just outside of Rapid City in the beautiful western side of South Dakota. Nestled close to the famous "Black Hills," we are only a short distance to miles of hiking trails, skiing/snowboarding within 45 minutes and countless other natural wonders all within a short drive. Kayaking, hot springs, mountain climbing, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities can all be found in our backyard. We are committed to adding the very best to our team, and we have an opening for an Engineering Intern for the summer of 2023. This individual will assist City engineering staff with design of civil/environmental engineering projects, bidding contract packages, management of ongoing construction projects, and providing technical support to City public works staff. The City of Box Elder Engineering works closely with the Public Works Department and the Planning and Zoning Department and allows for a wide variety of civil engineering with which the Intern could be involved. Knowledge and Skills Required by the Position Excellent communication (written and verbal) and administrative skills. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames. Organized, dependable, and detail oriented. Must be a quick learner and possess a high sense of urgency. Able to work well under pressure. Able to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities. Education and Experience: Minimum 2 years of Engineering education from an ABET credited university. Valid driver's license.
