WEI is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer for a full-time position in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate is a licensed engineer with a minimum of 5 -10 years in with a focus on traffic-related projects including maintenance of traffic, traffic signal design, preparing traffic control and pavement marking plans. The position requires a person who is thorough, self-directed, and having sound interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships at all organization levels.Key Responsibilities•Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS).•Review and supervise the work of others for maintenance of traffic, signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal plans.•Support projects for all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian in urban, suburban, and rural environments.•Complete studies and develop high-quality traffic reports with limited direction and be able to clearly, professionally present that information to our clients on-site and virtually.•Assist with business development, proposals, project scoping, creating and maintaining project budgets, and mentoring others. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities•Strong knowledge of NCDOT and local government maintenance of traffic requirements.•Strong knowledge of means and methods, materials, and industry standards.•Proficient knowledge of basic roadway and traffic engineering principals.•Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and AASHTO guidelines.•Effective communicator - written and verbal.Highly Desirable:•Understanding of maintenance of traffic principles.•Experience in NCDOT's maintenance of traffic, pavement marking, signal designs, ITS/Communication plans, TC and PMP.•Experience in Microstation and AutoCAD highly desired.•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software.•Presentation and interview skills. Education and Experience•BS or equivalent in Civil Engineering•Minimum 5 years of Traffic Engineering experience•Experience developing submissions per NCDOT standards and requirements.•Experience in traffic capacity analysis and developing traffic analysis reportsPreferred:•Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) •Design/build experience beneficial focusing on traffic control, pavement marking, signing, and signals.The position is full time with benefits which include health, vision, life, and dental insurance with Paid Time Off (PTO) and 401k.Travel will be required such as attending meetings or visiting job sites.
