Role: Behavior Technician The Behavior Technician delivers person-centered and behavioral support to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), mental health diagnoses, and complex medical needs. This role involves direct assistance, supervision, and behavioral management, as well as teaching home and community-based living skills. The Behavior Technician promotes community participation and integration, fostering independence and joy for our clients. Locations: Apple Valley Burnsville Brooklyn Park Key Responsibilities: Provide direct support and supervision to individuals with IDD and mental health diagnoses. Implement Positive Support Strategies and behavior management techniques. Assist with home and community-based living skills. Promote community integration and participation. Monitor and interpret behavioral trends. Manage crisis situations and daily events with sound judgment and decision-making. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals exhibiting high behaviors (biting, hitting, kicking). At least 2 years experience with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and chronic medical conditions. Proven experience in implementing Positive Support Strategies and behavior management techniques. Skilled in de-escalation and restraint techniques. Strong communication and documentation skills. Understanding of person-centered thinking and planning (preferred). Knowledge of vulnerable adult laws, 245D statutes, and state regulations applicable to HCBS. Ability to pass a background check from the MN Department of Human Services. Valid Driver’s License, a working vehicle, and a clean driving record. Good attendance and adaptability.
