Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician Iowa City, Iowa Education Requirements: - High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in fire alarm and electrical systems. Certification Requirements: - NICET II Certification.- Ability to obtain a state alarm license with required background screening.- Ability to obtain aerial lift certification.- OSHA 10 Certification.- Valid driver's license.- Completion of PREA training and certification may be required.- Site-specific safety and background screening may be required. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lift platforms.- Ability to work in confined spaces while adhering to all OSHA and company safety standards.- Must communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers. Recommended Skills: - Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm, security, access control, nurse call, camera, detention, integration controls, and networks.- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.- Understanding of electrical and building systems (HVAC, elevator, automation).- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.- Familiarity with Simplex network systems is preferred. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.As the Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for:- Conducting pre-work job analysis to identify potential obstacles and ensuring smooth execution.- Communicating effectively with the installation team to address system component requirements and questions.- Programming, testing, and commissioning a variety of technology systems to meet project specifications.- Performing system tests for submittal requirements or live demonstrations with local code enforcement authorities.- Traveling to remote locations, with overnight stays at company-provided accommodations when multi-day work is required.- Learning and integrating new systems on-the-job to keep up with evolving technologies.- Working in diverse environments, including both established sites and new construction areas.- Ensuring the final execution of project scopes and specifications, including any subsequent change orders.- Participating in a weekly on-call rotation, responding to after-hours emergency service work as needed.
