Job Title: Social Worker Reports To: Direct Reports: Principal Social Support Manager Date: 06/30/2023 Principal Objectives/Purpose The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency . The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build relationships and trust with youth and young adults to maintain relationships that foster them continuing in their planned services . Our team also serves as an integral component with connecting to our community and spreading/ demonstrating the mission of ACYR. The Social Worker serves the student whose social, emotional and/or family problems interfere with his/her capacity to function adequately within an educational environment. The Social Worker professionally assesses the problem(s) to provide and refer for interventions that help eliminate barriers to learning. Interventions may include the school, family, and/or community resources. This professional relationship is dependent upon its confidential nature and may consist of initial assessment interviews, consultation with staff and family, supportive counselling , crisis intervention, community referrals and/or school-based support groups.  The Social Worker assist with developing and teaching intervention strategies to help students achieve academic goals. Helping students develop strong social skills, conflic t resolution, and self-management skills to prepare them for higher education and the workforce . As a key member of our support team, they partner with school administration, teachers, success coaches and leaders to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for youth/students throughout the course of their participation. Key Result Areas Provides information and acts as a liaison between the School, Community, and families including, but not limited to, counseling referrals, home visits and access to community resources to assist youth and students with functioning effectively in an education environment. · Provides direct services to s tudents and their families, within a multi-cultural framework, by providing therapeutic interventions, counseling, crisis intervention (i.e., self-injury, suicide ideation, child abuse, grief/loss), and support groups. · Assist social support manager in the design, development and execution of student engagement, workshops, and events for students, personnel and sponsors c ounseling students · Assist with supporting students with goal development using SMART goals Providing connections to resources and services to assist youth and students with resolving barriers and issues. · Refer clients to community resources, such as food stamps, childcare , and health care JOB DESCRIPTION Assi st social support manager in, develop, coordinate, and implement training to lead the provision of positive youth development practices with all youth/students. · Demonstrates professional knowledge and engages in ongoing professional development in accordance with the National Association of Social Work Standards and Arizona Department of Education. · Assist social support manager in p rovid ing staff development and training on assessments, reassessments, care plan development, interventions, prioritizing needs, case conferencing, and follow-up. · Promotes diversity, including attitudes, practices, and/or policies that hold cultural differences and diversity in the highest esteem. Assist Social Support manager in overseeing ACYR's SNAP CAN program Assist Social Support manager supporting and maintaining students in the SNAP CAN program Required Qualifications Required Qualifications A bachelor's degree is required with a major in Social Work and 1-2 years of work experience in social services A minimum of 2 or more years of experience working with opportunity youth preferable at a nonprofit organization. Experience in the fields of youth development, education, and workforce development is highly desirable. Understands and utilizes positive youth development practices in all levels of work. Must be able to form connections with youth and families and have a compassionate understanding of the obstacles that low-income families encounter . Must be willing to advocate for youth and families' needs and supports . Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications Experience working with opportunity youth Experience working with at risk youth a plus. Knowledge of community resources and supports Bi-lingual / bicultural is a plus but not a require ment Background Check Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness . Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent . The background check will consist of reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search. ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check. Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements Valid Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License . Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business . Physical Demands Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students . Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly .
