Anticipated Start Date: August 2024 Position Summary: The Technical Support Assistant (TSA) provides technical support to Charter Oak State College clients via telephone, email, and web-based requests. Basic internal desktop support may be required.The TSA identifies, researches, documents, and resolves technical problems related to online systems, Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard Learn), as well as general hardware and software issues. Example of Job Duties: Under the direction of the Technical Support Manager, the Technical Support Assistant provides technical support through effective performance in these essential duties: Proactively maintains and updates all support knowledge base and training materials. Provide Tier 1 support for all incoming inquiries. • Provide desk side/in-person support. Adhere to FERPA/Privacy Policies Monitor/respond to incoming inquiries via phone, email, ticketing system, and live chat. Create, resolve, assign and/or escalate the resulting tickets in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.This posting includes qualifications, experience and skills but is not limited to the full duties and responsibilities that is stated in the job description.Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.) Minimum Qualifications: Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: One year of college and one year of customer service experience in the IT field or in a related area. Candidates should possess enthusiasm and willingness to learn and grow with the position. Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary, along with attention to detail. Ability to work with the public while maintaining a friendly and patient attitude is also required. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications: Associate Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology Previous experience in a technical support or customer service position Experience working with Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office Experience working with audio/visual equipment and technology Starting Salary: Minimum Salary; $47,443 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
