Job Details Job Location : Kernersville - Kernersville, NC Salary Range : $24.00 - $31.00 Hourly Description This position will be located in Kernersville, NC, Flower Mound, TX, or Temecula, CA. Position Summary The Transportation and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating and providing solutions for transportation services and related activities, generally outside of the daily transportation needs. This includes transportation operations involving the movement of materials between our contract storage facilities, distribution centers, and transportation partners, including accounting for these movements within our warehouse and inventory management systems. Also included are the coordination of other transportation needs, such as those involving international shipments, high value shipments and those requiring unique transportation and handling solutions. The incumbent will serve as the point of contact between operations and our transportation partners, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods. Essential Functions and Duties With consideration for regulatory and quality requirements, taking a risk-based approach, coordinate transportation activities, including selecting carriers from the approved supplier list, including negotiating and approving rates. Manage the transportation of materials between storage facilities and distribution centers. Schedule pickups and deliveries, optimizing modes and routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, while ensuring customer delivery requirements/expectations are successfully achieved. Ensure all necessary documentation is compiled and submitted accurately and on time. Approve transportation invoices and resolve any discrepancies. Coordinate material transfers within our warehouse management system, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of inventory levels. Collaborate with internal teams to forecast transportation needs and develop strategies to meet them. Monitor transportation performance metrics and implement improvements as needed. Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws. Display dedication to position responsibilities and achieve assigned goals and objectives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Required Knowledge: Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulations such as Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and relevant guidelines from regulatory bodies such as the FDA and DEA. Temperature-Controlled Logistics: Knowledge of temperature monitoring systems, packaging solutions (e.g., active and passive solutions, insulated shippers, PCM's), and handling procedures to maintain product integrity during transit. Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks in transportation (e.g., temperature excursions, delays) and implement mitigation strategies. Documentation: Proficiency in preparing shipping documents and ensuring compliance with import/export requirements. Preferred Knowledge: Supply Chain Management: Familiarity with supply chain processes including inventory management, order fulfillment, and logistics coordination. Pharmaceutical Industry: Understanding of pharmaceutical products, their specific storage and transportation requirements, and potential impacts of temperature deviations on product efficacy and safety. Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality control procedures, audits, and continuous improvement practices within the pharmaceutical logistics context. Technology Utilization: Familiarity with logistics software, temperature monitoring devices, and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems used in pharmaceutical logistics. Required Experience: Minimum two (2) years' [six (6) for non-degreed candidates] experience in transportation and logistics, preferably in pharmaceutical distribution. Logistics Coordination: Experience in coordinating shipments, managing logistics providers, and ensuring timely delivery in a regulated environment. Temperature-Controlled Logistics: Direct experience handling temperature-sensitive goods or pharmaceutical products in a logistics or supply chain role. Compliance: Experience adhering to regulatory requirements and quality standards in pharmaceutical logistics. Preferred Experience: Pharmaceutical Logistics: Previous experience specifically in logistics operations involving pharmaceuticals, ideally with temperature-sensitive products. Process Improvement: Experience in implementing process improvements related to logistics efficiency, cost reduction, or quality enhancement in pharmaceutical logistics. Cross-functional Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams including quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and procurement departments in a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting. Required Skills: Must have strong organizational skills. Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team. Sound decision-making abilities and adaptability. Flexibility to handle unexpected changes in logistics plans or regulatory requirements. Customer Focus. Understanding the importance of customer satisfaction in pharmaceutical logistics, particularly in meeting delivery timelines and product quality expectations. Physical requirements Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts to 50 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Working condition include warehouse setting. Mental Demands Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations' situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
