ABOUT THE POSITION Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation; and performs other related duties as required. The County of Riverside Registrar of Voters is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Outreach Member to join our growing team. In this role, the intern will play a vital part in liaising with our community and helping to secure the resources needed to fulfill our mission. This internship will provide the selected candidate with a comprehensive view of the electoral process, enhance their professional skills, and prepare them for future opportunities in public service, community outreach, and related fields. The internship opportunity is an in-person position with a work week consisting of up to 40 hours per week with flexibility granted around school obligations. Please note, the weekly hours will be reduced during academic sessions when the intern is actively taking courses. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES As an intern with the Registrar of Voters' outreach team, you can expect to gain a wide range of valuable experiences and skills, including but not limited to: * Hands-On Experience in Public Administration: Gain practical knowledge of the electoral process and the inner workings of a government office dedicated to managing elections. * Communication Skills: Have the opportunity to interact with the public, answer questions, and provide information, enhancing your verbal and written communication skills. * Community Engagement: Participate in outreach events, helping to educate and inform the community about voting processes and the importance of civic participation. * Project Management: Assist with planning and executing outreach campaigns and events, developing your organizational and project management skills. * Data Analysis: Learn how to analyze voter data and feedback to improve outreach strategies and voter services. * Professional Development: Work alongside experienced professionals, gaining insights and mentorship that will help shape your career path. * Networking Opportunities: Have the chance to meet and network with a variety of stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and volunteers. * Understanding of Civic Duties: Develop a deeper understanding of the importance of elections and the role they play in democracy, which can inspire further civic engagement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2 .5 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application . Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university, in a Bachelor's degree program or preparing to transfer to a Bachelor's program during the entire duration of the internship. R ecent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to one year (twelve months) from their graduation date. Graduation date must not exceed twelve month maximum during the duration of the internship. Areas of Study : Communications, Marketing, Journalism or similar Minimum Qualifications: * Bilingual in English and Spanish * Strong work ethic and a desire to learn are essential * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Strong research and organizational skills * Strong knowledge in creating PowerPoint presentations * Strong Knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro * Basic knowledge of data collection, analysis, and reporting Preferred Qualifications: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely * Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with community members, stakeholders, and team members * High level of organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines effectively * Competence in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), data analysis tools, and social media platforms for outreach purposes * Ability to identify issues, analyze problems, and develop practical solutions * Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, new information, and unexpected challenges **All applicants are required to include a resume, cover letter, and most recent unofficial/official transcript.
