Through leadership, research, education, and advocacy, NSC focuses on areas where most unintentional injuries and deaths occur. We are currently looking for a Senior Program Manager - Road to Zero to join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries. Position Highlights: Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Safety Leadership and Advocacy, the Senior Program Manager, Road To Zero and Mobility Strategy is responsible for providing strategic and programmatic support for the Safety Leadership and Advocacy group including managing and leading the efforts of the Road to Zero Coalition and other mobility safety initiatives. S/he is responsible for managing and growing the relationships, programs, communications, and strategy that will grow the Coalition and support its mission. S/he will identify, develop, and provide support for other mobility safety strategies and initiatives and work with the Executive Vice President of the Safety Leadership and Advocacy to advance the overall goals and mission of NSC’s mobility safety efforts. What You’ll Do: Road to Zero Management and Strategic Growth (50%) Manage, maintain, and strengthen relationships with new and existing Road to Zero partners and stakeholders Represent Road to Zero in strategic planning, communications, and external outreach Maintain regularly scheduled Road to Zero communications and planning including monthly newsletters, social media, resource development, and webinar programming Identify, develop, and manage strategy, programming and communications to advance the mission of Road to Zero Manage the internal structure of Road to Zero including providing support and oversight to its Steering Group, Working Groups, and other related entities Facilitate, oversee, and promote the Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety Grant Program and other similar initiatives Serve as the liaison between the Road to Zero Coalition mission and efforts and the NSC Roadway Practice mission and efforts Identify and develop new ways to leverage the Road to Zero Coalition and its members to support its mission Manage any support staff or consultants working on related Road to Zero activities Identify and develop potential funding and grant opportunities for Road to Zero activities NSC Mobility Strategy Growth, Impact, and Implementation (40%) Working with the EVP, Safety Leadership and Advocacy, identify, develop, and implement new initiatives, programs, and communications for NSC in mobility safety including those related to emerging technologies and trends Working with the EVP, Safety Leadership and Advocacy, identify, develop, and implement a new mobility strategy for NSC that incorporates multi-modal thinking and the Safe System approach Provide strategic recommendations and support to accomplish the NSC mission and its related goals within the Safety Leadership and Advocacy group Identify, develop, and manage partnerships and relationships with new and existing stakeholders within the mobility environment including those of the Mobility Safety Advisory Group Develop and oversee any new programming including the Countersteer discussion series and others identified in partnership with the EVP and Mobility Safety Advisory Group Work with relevant NSC staff to advise on opportunities for growth and development of NSC Safety Leadership and Advocacy Strategy to achieve the NSC mission Manage any support staff or consultants working to implement the NSC new mobility strategy Identify and develop potential funding and grant opportunities for Mobility Safety initiatives NSC Roadway Practice Strategic Support (10%) Provide support and advice on general Roadway Practice strategy and needs including providing feedback on NSC advocacy and communications efforts Identify and develop potential partnership, funding, and communications opportunities for Safety Leadership and Advocacy Work with the EVP, Safety Leadership and Advocacy to identify and advance new or expanded advocacy efforts of the Safety Leadership and Advocacy group Serve as staff support and advisor as needed on other Safety Leadership and Advocacy programming and efforts Additional tasks and items as requested and approved by the EVP, Safety Leadership and Advocacy group We’re Looking for Someone with: Bachelor Degree required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to communicate to small and large groups in a persuasive and compelling way Utilizes excellent leadership skills to engage diverse stakeholders and achieve desired results Proven ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects and teams to achieve desired behavior change and injury reduction Proven ability to develop outreach activities to identified audiences Ability to plan, organize and implement program development Ability to administer and supervise remote volunteers and committees Ability to effectively motivate goal achievement Proven flexibility in a reasonably fast-paced and constantly changing environment Demonstrates good judgment, and decision-making skills with an ability to relate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and customers Work experience in transportation safety and coalition development. Involvement in political situations and managing diverse opinions in a constructive, useful way Five to ten years reflecting growing responsibilities in relevant programming and/or strategic initiatives Experience in leading and coordinating coalitions or other working groups and experience in federal advocacy is a plus This is a remote position The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $93,000 Travel: This position requires travel (heavy at times) if not based in Washington, DC full-time.
