A. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be at least 18 years of age2. Must have no criminal record or criminal charges pending3. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with liability insurance4. Must be able to speak, read and write English5. Must have or be willing to obtain First Aide/CPR certification6. Must have a clear TB and physical examination before first day of employment7. Must have a high school diploma or GED8. Must have a Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) for Infants and Toddler Caregivers 9. Must have 3 years' experience (with infants and toddlers) B. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Be Bilingual - able or willing to learn to speak, read and write English and Spanish2. Be a local resident of Cameron or Willacy County3. Be a person sensitive to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged C. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. This person will be in charge of the assigned Early Head Start classroom. 2. Responsible for the overall operation and management of the classroom. 3. Must work in a team teaching and insure that all curriculum activities and program Performance Standards be implemented in the classroom.4. Responsible for the operation and management of the classroom.5. Responsible for the proper nutrition of all children.6. Assist in formulation and maintaining records of individual children in the classroom.7. Responsible for the care of classroom equipment, materials and supplies.8. Responsible for daily / weekly classroom lesson plan.9. Will assure that all screening activities are conducted and follow - up is completed.10. Designs Individual Education Plans (IEP's) as needed.11. When necessary will be expected to attend staff training through pre-service and in-service workshops, and out of town conferences.12. Supports the efforts of Head Start families in the enhancement of their children's healthy wellbeing and academic success13. Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor relative to program operations14.
