Learn more about the great things happening with MAAC at http://www.maacproject.org/ .DEFINITIONUnder the supervision of the Family Engagement Manager, the Family Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing direct support, guidance and developing the Family Service Staff, ensuring the successful implementation of family engagement programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves as an advisor for Family Service Staff by observing and assessing parent center meetings, family engagement events and provide ongoing monitoring and support Provides on-the-job guidance, to improve the skills and interactions of Family Service Staff and families to improve children’s progress toward the Parent Family and Community Engagement Framework (PFCE) Provides direct supervision to the Family and Community Engagement Specialist Assists management in analyzing family data to plan, organize, and conduct professional development activities to groups of up to 100 participants Works in collaboration with Center Directors, Family Service Staff and other staff to determine focus areas Participates and contributes to planning/management activities, committees and meetings Provides training and technical assistance to Family Service Staff, Center Directors and others in alignment with MAAC CDP goals and objectives Collaborates regularly with comprehen[AM1] sive service areas to determine Works regularly with Community Engagement Manager to develop relationships with community agencies that provide complimentary services to preschool age children and their families integrating the use of community education resources Ensures that family engagement activities and interactions with parents and children are age appropriate, with consideration of bilingual/multicultural emphasis and are in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Framework and to the Family Outcomes Attends monthly evening meetings, conferences, community meetings and/or training programs as required. Communicates effectively with Child Development, Head Start/Early Head Start Managers and upper management to problem solve difficult issues. Collaborates and maintains positive working relationships with fellow MAAC employees and with partner community organizations. Use assessment data to tailor support services and resources to meet the needs of each family Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and other educational opportunities for parents and Family Support Staff Value and respect the cultural diversity of families served Ensure that program activities, materials, and communications are culturally sensitive OTHER DUTIES Attends management, staff, and program planning meetings; participates in mandatory training sessions. Builds community relationships; participates in recruitment and enrollment activities as required. Performs various summer recess activities, including participating in the redesign of center forms, updating policies and procedures, and developing staff training plans and activities Work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends will be required) Works with management teams to secure volunteers. Knowledge of: Computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database management and the Internet Communicate proficiently in English (orally, reading and writing) Coach and mentor staff of various cultural backgrounds and learning modalities Work positively with parents, staff and consultants Develop, organize and conduct trainings on a variety of topics Troubleshoot basic problems and prepare comprehensive reports Work collaboratively with Management and Union staff Develop and maintain strong community relations and positive interpersonal relations Organize records and paperwork processes and consistently demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills Prepare and present reports, training plans, and facilitate workshops Consistently relate effectively with Family Service Staff, parents, staff, and local services providers Knowledge of early childhood education. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards. Knowledge of working with adult learners and learning modalities. Focuses on resolving the issue while not criticizing the person EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONA typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is a: Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development, Community Development, Social Work, Public Relations, Education, or a related field (bachelor's degree preferred). Experience in education, family services, and prior experience supporting staff in similar environments. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
