The ideal candidate will represent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation to expert discovery in matters involving general liability. This position demands a proactive attorney adept at complex legal research, drafting legal documents, and negotiating settlements, with excellent writing and organizational skills.DutiesRepresent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation to expert discovery, particularly in general liability matters.Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.Conduct complex legal research and thorough discovery investigations.Draft and respond to discovery requests, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.Review and analyze discovery responses and depositions, preparing detailed summaries and litigation update reports.Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel to resolve claims.Maintain close communication with clients throughout the litigation process, providing legal analysis, status reports, and strategic advice.RequirementsExperience: 1-2 years of litigation experience.Licensure: Must be barred in Pennsylvania (PA). Preference is given to candidates barred in Pennsylvania (PA) and West Virginia (WV).Skills:Proficient in drafting motions and discovery.Excellent writing and organizational skills.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and demanding environment.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Proficient in Lexis software for legal research.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsMust have an active bar membership in Pennsylvania (PA). Bar membership in West Virginia (WV) is highly preferred.SkillsStrong legal research and analytical skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously.Strong negotiation skills to effectively settle claims.Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.Proficient in legal research databases and software, including Lexis.Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Job LocationPittsburgh, PA Founded over two decades ago, this law firm specializes in defense litigation.
