The successful candidate will be part of a team working closely with lead trial attorneys on personal injury, sex abuse survivors, and medical malpractice cases. Here's what the job entails:Job Overview:Work collaboratively with lead trial attorneys to perform research, analysis, and writing tasks for various tort law cases.Contribute to the representation of plaintiffs in legal proceedings.Demonstrate a keen interest in the intellectual aspects of tort law and trial practice.Duties:Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.Analyze and interpret legal documents, including depositions, witness statements, and medical records.Draft legal memoranda, motions, briefs, and other court documents.Assist in case preparation, including organizing evidence and preparing exhibits.Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies and arguments.Attend meetings, hearings, and trials as required.Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the Bar in Maine or eligibility for admission by motion.Strong academic credentials, with a focus on tort law coursework preferred.Exceptional research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate them effectively.Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.Certifications:Admission to the Maine State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.Skills:Legal research and analysis.Legal writing and drafting.Case preparation and organization.Communication and collaboration.Time management and multitasking.The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, a 401(k) plan with profit sharing, and paid parental leave.
