Control Systems Engineer Co-Op (Fall 2024)

We are seeking a motivated student to hire for our Controls Engineering Co-Op opportunity. You will be responsible for assisting our Argo engineers with controlling production processes using modern computerized process control systems and instrumentation. You will also be applying concepts learned in engineering and engineering-related classes to applications in the field. As the Controls Engineer ing Co-Op , your responsibilities will include: Being responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of any contractors working on projects with a goal of completing projects with zero safety or environmental incidentsBecoming familiar with a production channel and the control systems employed on the channel, utilizing a Rockwell Control Logix PLC, Provox Control System , Alan Bradley, and/or DeltaV Control SystemBecoming familiar with process measurement and control devices, such as control valv e s and process transmittersWorking with assigned project team and l earning how to implement programming changes and tie in new field devices to the control systemUtilizing alarm monitoring systems to analyze alarm frequencies, recommending improvements to alarm handling and implementing approved alarm changesDetermining instrumentation installation requirements, control system software configuration requirements and working with team to see through the complete installation and configuration The Controls Engineer ing Co-Op position is well suited for you if you: Are well-organized with leadership potential and have good communication by having the ability to effect change through persuasion and reason while deal ing with ambiguityHave proven the ability to work as a team member with a variety of people at all levels within the organizationAre able to deliver results in a very significant and energizing environment through multi-tasking, critical thinking, problem solving and having an analytical mind setAre a self-starter with a strong work ethic that values high levels of integrity and authenticity with a dedicated and creative personality who wants to succeed Qualified candidates will have: Progress towards a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical /Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 p referredAbility to work 40hrs per week during the co-op term (August - December 2024Skills and a demonstrated interest in computers and programming, with knowledge in one or more language preferredAbility to self-teach from manuals and documentationAbility to tackle problems, identify improvement opportunities, implement action plans and follow-up to ensure resultsStrong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and prepare concisely written reportsProven analytical problem solving, multi-tasking, and time management skillsExperience with PC Applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint To be eligible for consideration, candidates must: Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
