Corporate Counsel EmploymentAn hour north of Denver and ideally situated between Boulder, Fort Collins, and Greeley, JBS is the largest company headquartered in Colorado, and one of the largest food companies in the world. We are seeking a motivated and proactive attorney to join our in-house legal team, with a focus on employment law and the talent and adaptability to handle a wide variety of complex legal matters.The Corporate Counsel will manage a variety of employment law matters for the Company, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and advice. This role involves handling agency investigations, responses to charges of discrimination, reductions in force, severance agreements, and advising on employee investigations and disciplinary actions. You will manage complex litigation and work closely with external counsel, providing business insight and strategic input while ensuring efficient utilization of external law firms. As an advisor to the business, you will stay apprised of all relevant developments in relevant laws, regulations, and trends, and will train relevant stakeholders accordingly. You will frequently collaborate with teams across the Company to support business goals and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Additionally, you will stretch your skillset by frequently assisting with the wide range of legal matters facing a complex global organization. RESPONSIBILITIES:Employment Litigation ManagementOversee and manage employment-related litigation, including coordinating with external counsel and leading internal effortsDevelop litigation strategies and manage case resolutions in an efficient and cost-effective mannerAgency InvestigationsManage agency investigations and respond to charges of discrimination and other employment-related complaintsInterface with government agencies, including the EEOC and DOL, ensuring timely and effective responsesRegulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws and anti-discrimination statutesCollaborate with Corporate HR Compliance team to create and implement training and policy updates consistent with new laws and regulationsReductions in Force and Severance AgreementsAdvise on legal aspects of reductions in force (RIFs), including compliance with WARN Act requirementsDraft, review, and negotiate severance agreements to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risksAdvising on Discipline and TerminationProvide legal guidance on employee discipline and termination decisions, ensuring compliance with employment laws and minimizing legal risksAssist in developing and implementing disciplinary policies and proceduresServe as legal resource to corporate and local HR teamsOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school with a strong academic recordMinimum 5 years experience Combination of law firm and in-house experience preferredAdmission to a U.S. bar (Colorado preferred)Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and partner with outside counsel in litigation and investigatory mattersExcellent strategic and analytical skills, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work well independently and on a teamExcellent judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters in tandem with business objectivesStrong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels throughout the CompanyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to the specific intended audience in a way that is clear, concise, and persuasiveAbility to embody and project both confidence and humilityAs a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodationThe applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule; Base salary range of $135,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience; andThis position is eligible to participate in the Company s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, JBS and Pilgrim s is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role. This position does not have an application deadline.
