Safety Systems Engineer

Zap Energy is searching for a highly skilled safety systems engineer to join the Data Acquisition and Controls team in R&D. In this role, you will lead the technical design and implementation of safety systems that protect personnel and comply with relevant safety regulations in a complex and rapidly evolving environment. Hazards can include but are not limited to thermal, acoustic, electrical, optical, and radiative. Required Qualifications At least 8 years' experience designing systems for an industrial environment At least 5 years' direct experience in a safety engineering role Deep understanding of relevant safety requirements and standards from regulatory bodies such as ANSI B11, OSHA, NFPA, NRC, IEC, ISO Competency in safety analysis techniques such as failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis (FTA), or comparable. Competency in safety engineering components such as interlocks, safety relays, safety controllers, E-stops, shutters, light curtains, etc. Desired Qualifications Safety design and compliance experience for the state of Washington such as WA DOH and WAC. Experience with high voltage systems Electrically isolated safety design experience e.g., using optical fiber Experience collaborating with other engineers to integrate human safety functions into machine control systems Professional engineers PE license Benefits of joining Zap Energy: While doing meaningful work is rewarding in itself, we also offer the following programs and benefits for all employees: Competitive salary and benefits Premium medical / dental / vision insurance Flexible vacation and paid company holidays The estimated annual salary range for this position is $100k-130K. Candidates may be considered for other positions at Zap Energy and the actual salary will be based on relevant education, experience, and other qualifications.
