Our highly-skilled and knowledgeable workforce has successfully completed planned projects and emergency work for private, as well as federal, state and local government entities, since 1978. Job Summary: The Engineering/Construction Project Manager / Estimator will be responsible for estimating, bidding and once procured, managing all aspects of the projects. This individual will be responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for private and public works projects to ensure that R Baker, Inc. is a top-quality and responsive bidder. Duties / Responsibilities: Project Management, Cost Control, Budgeting: Manage, coordinate, participate and administer all activities of projects, to ensure project goals/deadlines are accomplished/met; Order materials for all projects; Prepare, manage and oversee project budgets to ensure projects are staying within the contractual budget parameters;; Work closely with all relevant team members ensure information is accurately shared and to monitor project budgets; inform said team members of any change orders, service requests and back changes that occur; Ensure adequate and effective staff are assigned to each project; mange time-keeping of staff and submit accurate timecards in a timely and complete manner; Ensure regular construction reports are compiled and shared with relevant parties; Oversee, review and coordinate all project documents; obtain necessary approvals in a timely manner to include purchase orders, change orders, invoices and similar documentation; Provide oversight and promote job site safety, while encouraging safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately. Project Estimating: Create, promote, recognize and understand relevant environmental policies, rules and the potential adverse affects to the environment, in relation to each project; take necessary steps to comply with policy/rules and mitigate the effects of operations within the projects; Create and/or foster a quality culture recognizing the effect of quality on all operations; take necessary steps necessary to provide a high level of service to our customers and a source of pride for our employees; Analyze and compile estimate data impacting labor costs, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors, to ensure a high quality and timely estimate to our customers; Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate; Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of bids; Review "take-off" quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates; Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete estimate; Apply mathematical calculations requiring advanced analytical processes to ensure logically estimated costs are accurate; Analyze and communicate bidding risks, strategies and present estimate/bid to Operations Manager for review, to ensure accuracy and completeness; Participate in estimate and bid reviews with management team to develop estimating skills; Analyze competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness; Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings, to ensure understanding of scope of job. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or relevant discipline; 3 – 5 years of recent, relevant managerial experience in a similar role; Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project), AGTEK Take-Off and Primavera Scheduling software; Proficiency with BlueBeam and ProCore software; Working knowledge of civil engineering and construction principles; Experience managing all aspects of workflow and contracts regarding construction projects; Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; Exceptional time management, organizational, accuracy, multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving and follow-through skills Ability to lift at least 50 pounds in weight; Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and reliable transportation to work; Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment. Compensation: $125,842 - $165,788 DOE base salary, for this full-time, exempt position, paid weekly. Benefits: 80 hours of paid vacation during years 1 – 3 and increasing incrementally thereafter; eligibility for use after 60 days of employment for banked time; 40 hours of annual paid sick time allotted in a lump sum on start date and each anniversary date; eligibility for use after 60 days of employment; Medical, dental, vision insurance paid 100% for the employee and dependents; 401(K) with an annual company match; $200 annual work boot allowance; Aflac secondary health insurance offered through pre-tax payroll deductions. Working Hours: 7:30AM – 4:30PM Monday – Friday Location: Arroyo Grande, CA and throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
