Join the Rocky Research team working Laser Support Equipment (LSE) for directed energy weapons "Star Wars" technology. Looking for an entry level machinist, must be able to setup operate and maintain machinery with skills running manual equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders. Looking for an innovative person to work in a prototype machine shop environment. Person must have the flexibility to work in multiple rolls: machinist, inspector, assembly, fixture design, coordination and ordering of purchased materials. Key Responsibilities Set up, operation and maintenance of the following equipment to fabricate high quality hardware: Manual mill, Manual Lathe, Drill press, Grinder, etc. Good knowledge of inspection equipment, with ability to verify parts meet print requirements. Ability to fabricate parts directly from 2D drawings. Ability to record and maintain quality data. Ability to assemble mechanical assemblies with minimal instructions Good writing and communication skills. Ability to efficiently produce high quality parts. U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status. YOU MUST HAVE High School Diploma, or equivalent. WE VALUE Ability to analyze information and concepts. Ability to collaborate with others and work independently. Ability to identify key details. Ability to troubleshoot. Good coordination, motor skills, and dexterity. Creative thinking and idea generation. Some experience in the machine shop. Ability to communicate information clearly. Associate degree or certification in: Machine Tool Technology or equivalent. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Ability to read blueprints and schematics, experience with SolidWorks a plus Ability to follow instructions and identify mistakes. Ability to build electrical cables a plus Ability to solder electronic devices a plus General computer experience with programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
