PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This part-time (10-15 hours/week) position is designed to both supportparents/caregivers and empower their leadership in early childhood planning and decision-making. There is a good deal of autonomy in this position with the ability to plan many of yourown hours (most of which can be from home). Leading one weekly playgroup with a co-facilitator is part of this position. Additionally, there are usually one or two evening monthlyevents that you will lead and three or four monthly meetings you will be required to attend (mostvirtual). This position spends considerable time marketing/recruiting with social media for earlychildhood events and programming. Every other month there is a meeting in Marquette that youare required to attend (childcare provided at this meeting). More specifically, the Great Start Family Coalition (GSFC) is designed to: Support families with young children in our community with quality family programming and increased connection to social connection, education and support. Increase parent participation in early childhood planning and decision-making for the Great Start Collaborative (GSC) and Family Coalition. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Be the parent of a child under the age of twelve, who is a local resident as well as a representative of the diversity of the community. Be interested in mentoring and supporting other parents in the community to become engaged in the GSC and GSFC. Prior experience working with groups of adults. Prior experience with early childhood planning activities. Must have phone and computer access, and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel throughout Marquette and Alger Counties. Willingness to attend Regional and State training when necessary. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Have experience running meetings and working with groups. Be a good listener. Be an effective communicator in both verbal and written formats. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Coordinate, lead, and support direct family programming and other various efforts of the Marquette County Great Start Family Coalition (GSFC) and Great Start Collaborative (GSC). Actively encourage and locate parents for participation in the GSC and GSFC. Mentor parent members as needed. Be accessible via phone and/or email, responding in a timely manner. Assist in assuring that the GSPC includes parent members who represent the diversity of the community. Help disseminate the GSC goals with and to parents. Maintain open communication lines between parents and the GSC Director. Establish and/or maintain a positive relationship with local early childhood professionals. Provide ongoing communication and follow up with GSFC parents. Maintain attendance records and meeting notes of GSFC meetings. Be involved in GSC/GSFC family events. Other duties assigned. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: New hires will need to undergo fingerprinting and pass a criminal background check.
